Ninth graders graduation ceremony

On June the 10th a graduation ceremony for the students of the 9th grades took place at Scandinavian Gymnasium where they received certificates of basic secondary education. Our students completed an important stage in life - they got vital reference points and values, brought to light their abilities in particular activities.

Senior prom

On May the 30th a school graduation party  was held at Scandinavian Gymnasium where eleventh graders received certificates of full general secondary education. Nine students among them were awarded gold and silver medals.

Day of farewell bell

On May the 29th the ceremony of Farewell Bell took place at Scandinavian Gymnasium. This is a special and memorable experience for each student. This day marks the end of a school year. It is a step forward in life.

Farewell to elementary school!

At last our fourth grade students have graduated from the elementary school. The climax of this was a wonderful graduation celebration.
Well-dressed, romantic students full of hopes, independent, conscious and responsible enjoyed the holiday. They prepared festive graduation concerts which took place in the assembly hall.

"We and Power" Completion of the project

Establishing the Ukrainian state of law, and developing the civil society are linked to involvement of our youth into participation in social and political life of the country. Creating active citizenship of high school students increases their awareness of cooperation with representatives of the various branches of government. The project "We and power" implemented at our gymnasium during the current school year contributed to formation of political culture of the students.

Preparation for "UN Model: Scandy - 2015"

On May the 17th the students of Scandinavian Gymnasium gathered to discuss the organization of the scientific-practical conference " UN Model: Scandy- 2015". Future Model participants started the work in March, and this time the elections were held in the Secretariat. 11 teams claimed six possible Committees that presented various structures of the United Nations.

The Europe Day

On May the 15th residents and guests of our capital took part in various events to mark the Day of Europe  which the Ukrainians celebrate traditionally. The students of Scandinavian Gymnasium joined the celebration.

Holiday of embroidery

The Holiday of Embroidery united the whole family of Scandinavian Gymnasium in a joint desire for peace in our country. All the activities during the event contributed to national elevation and unity.

Tennis star

Everybody knows that a real tennis star, Daria Snihur (7A), studies at our gymnasium. Daria brings victory trophies from competitions from all over the world on a regular basis.

1939-1945. We remember! We are winning!

By the Presidential Decree May the 8th is declared the Day of Remembrance and Reconciliation. The events dedicated to this date were held under the slogan "1939-1945. We remember! We are winning!" We remember what tragedy was the Second World War for the Ukrainian people. This memory makes us stronger. It is the key to victory today. A red poppy is a symbol of memory of the world and in Ukraine. The students of Scandinavian Gymnasium made 400 stylized poppies for the residents of Eastern Ukraine.

International conference in Poltava

From May the 5th through the 7th Poltava National Pedagogical University named after V. G. Korolenko hosted an international scientific-practical conference "North Wind. Nordic world in education and culture of Ukraine” which was attended by teachers and students of Scandinavian Gymnasium and representatives of Danish and Swedish universities.

UN Model in Lviv

From May the 1st through the 3rd the Ukrainian Catholic University hosted a regional conference "Lviv UN Model" with participation of high school students. The conference was attended by the 8th - 9th graders of Scandinavian Gymnasium. What is the sense of the game? - To feel like a real diplomat and try to solve the global problems of humanity by relationships and peaceful political activities. Our students demonstrated a high level of training and diplomatic skills.

Dialogue of States: Partnership in Education – 2015

On April the 28th school №315 hosted the regional stage of citywide competition-festival "Dialogue of States: Partnership in Education" under the slogan "Tell the world about Ukraine", dedicated to the Europe Day in Ukraine.

Excursion to Azot

On April the 28th our 10th graders visited Azot PJSC (Cherkasy, Ukraine), a part of OSTCHEM Holding (consolidating Group DF’s fertilizer business). The tour was conducted in the framework of the project «STEM: Profession of the Future" to promote the engineering profession among the students in Ukraine.

Meeting with a writer

On April the 27th the students of 5V, 5G and 5E forms met with Zvezda Menzatyuk, a famous children's writer who told them about incredibly exciting things: heroes with interesting names, children’s fantastic adventures and  sacred places of Ukraine.

Congratulations!

Scandinavian Gymnasium is proud of its students! Congratulations to Cyril Kramskoy, 11A, who became the winner of the 3rd stage of All-Ukrainian MAS competition-defense of student research works in the area of history of Ukraine. He is the best young researcher in our country. The topic of his scientific work is "Ukrainian diplomatic missions in the Nordic countries in 1918-1920".

Interesting Holidays

The students of Scandinavian Gymnasium during the spring holidays had the opportunity to visit museums, exhibitions, watch interesting movies, and make fascinating journeys to the cities of Ukraine.

Traditional spring in Poland

During the spring holidays the students of Scandinavian Gymnasium with their parents visited the partner Marie Sklodowska-Curie Lyceum#1 in Sopot. Among the participants of the trip there were our future graduates who intend to enroll in the University of Sopot (Sopocka Szkoła Wyższa), which under the agreement with Scandinavian Gymnasium takes our students to study on preferential terms.

Meeting in the Parliament

On March the 27th, 2015 in the framework of the "We and power" project our high-school students made a tour to the highest legislative body of Ukraine - the Verkhovna Rada - where they saw the parliamentary committees and received their internship program.

Trip to Scandinavia

On March the 19th a traditional for elementary school students of Scandinavian Gymnasium festival - the "Journey to Scandinavia" event - took place. The children like real researchers learnt the history, read fairy tales, and studied the customs of Sweden, Norway, Denmark and Finland.

Our pride

On March the 12th, 2015 the winners of the regional stage of the All-Ukrainian Subject Olympiads and Minor Academy of Sciences competition-defense of students’ scientific research works were awarded. In the 2014th- 2015th academic year, 64 students of our gymnasium won prizes in 13 subjects of the All-Ukrainian Subject Olympiads. 22 scientific research works of our students,  members of the "Erudite" scientific society, won prizes at the regional stage of the competition- defense of MAS students’ scientific research works.

Trip to Britain

From the 15th to the 25th of February, a group of students of Scandinavian Gymnasium visited Britain and the East-West Bridge Language Center. Within ten days the students studied English and visited the sights of London. 

Not to Miss the Past

On February the 27th our high school students learning Norwegian had a very interesting meeting with Natalia Krutenko, an art historian, a member of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine, a writer who explores the famous history of Ukraine.

Intellectual Week Festival / Week of Foreign Languages

One of the most important tasks of the modern school is to bring up a person who is able to replenish own knowledge, to quickly adapt to the changing demands of life, to think critically and to generate creative ideas. This represents high level of intellectual culture.

"Elementary School Constellation - 2015" Festival

Scandinavian Gymnasium is an institution where there is a priority of individuality, self-importance, identity of the child. The elementary school of Scandinavian Gymnasium holds different events that provide opportunities for students to reach their potential.

Celebrating the Anniversary of the Gymnasium - Congratulations from the students!

The birthday of the gymnasium is not just a holiday but is a great celebration in which all the students take part. This year it is our anniversary - Scandinavian gymnasium is 10 years old!

"We and Power" Project Meeting in the KSCA

On February the 12th the Department of Education and Science, Youth and Sports, the "Kiyanka" Association of Business and Professional Women from Kyiv, and Scandinavian Gymnasium held a meeting of the "We and Power" project with representatives of Kyiv City State Administration - Anna Starostenko, Deputy Mayor, and Yuri Krykunov, the Chairman of the Standing Committee of the City Council.

Celebrating the Anniversary of the Gymnasium - Congratulations from the teachers!

On January the 30th Scandinavian Gymnasium celebrated its first anniversary. Ten years have passed since the opening of the institution, new type of school not only for the capital, but also for the entire country. Teachers, parents and students were well-prepared for the long-awaited holiday. For the first time it was possible to see the whole teaching team on the stage of the assembly hall. Our teachers impressed everybody with their original congratulations.

On the New Year’s Eve

Scandinavian Gymnasium has completed the 2014 school year with interesting Christmas events. The students of the elementary school and the students of 5th-6th grades met with Father Christmas, the Snow Maiden and the fairy tale characters of "The Winter's Tale" performed by the "Lady Bird" theatre supported by the "Scandy" foundation. Also, some classes organized their own Christmas parties with entertainment, performances and competitions.

Saint Nicholas comes to children

Every year the students of our school on the Eve of the New Year and Christmas congratulate the children who live in orphanages and boarding schools. So, this year they joined the charity event "Saint Nicholas comes to children" in the framework of the Internet project «www.detdom.info».

Meeting with the Ambassador of Norway

On December the 17th Mr. John Fredriksen Elvedal, the Ambassador of Norway to Ukraine, came to Scandinavian Gymnasium, visited lessons of the Norwegian language, met with our teachers and students.

The Swedish national holiday

On December the 12th all Swedes solemnly celebrate the memory of St. Lucia. This holiday doesn’t bypass the house of Mr. Håkan Hendstrom, the Defense Attaché of Sweden. So, this year, for the third time, Mr. Håkan kindly invited the "Funny Notes" choir of Scandinavian Gymnasium to beatify the holiday with traditional Swedish songs and poems.

Pupils’ scientific conference of the Minor Academy of Sciences

On December the 8th, 2014 the annual students’ conference devoted to defense of students’ MAS research works was held at Scandinavian Gymnasium in which our students, members of our “Erudite” scientific society and our teachers participated.

New victories of the "Shogun" club

On December the 6th, 2014, an official championship of Ukraine on karate among students approved by the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine took place in Kyiv  which was attended by around 400 athletes from all over Ukraine, including students  of Scandinavian Gymnasium.

Kyiv – NaestvedProject: continued

The country of the Vikings and the tales of Hans Christian Andersen, islands and strong winds, good ecology and happy people, bike lanes and small houses. That’s how our students remembered the Royal Denmark. They visited the picturesque Scandinavia in November 2014.

The Conference of UNESCO Associated Schools

On November the 28th the students of 7A, 10V, and 11A forms, together with their teacher Y. Snitsarenko, attended the conference of UNESCO associated schools dedicated to closing the year of Taras Shevchenko held in the "Dialogue" gymnasium. The Conference participants attended sectional sessions: "The word of Taras Shevchenko sounds through the ages" and "The Ways of the Poet".

VI Regional Conference of Senior Students "UN Model: Scandy-2014"

From the 28th through the 29thof November a long-awaited event, the VI Regional Conference of Senior Students “UN Model: Scandy-2014” was held at Scandinavian Gymnasium. It was devoted to consolidation in addressing global challenges through international cooperation.

Finland’s Independence Day

On December the 1st the students of Scandinavian Gymnasium took part in the gala evening on the occasion of the 97th anniversary of Independence of the Republic of Finland. In the assembly hall of the Kyiv National Linguistic University the meeting with the Ambassador of Finland to Ukraine Mrs. Aria Makkonen took place.

"Light a Candle" Action

November the 22nd- the fourth Saturday of the month - is a day of remembrance of the victims of the Famines. On this day Ukraine and the whole world honor those killed during the genocide of 1932-1933. During the first lesson in each class the students remembered those tragic events - the darkest time in the history of Ukraine.

Day of Dignity and Liberty

On November the 21st the Day of Dignity and Liberty was celebrated at Scandinavian Gymnasium. This event will be held each year according to the Decree of the President of Ukraine.

Pupils’ conference in Cherkassy

On November the 7th Oleksandra Gubareva and Yevgeniya Remihanova, together with Ph.D. Tetyana E. Pushkaryova, the Headmistress of Scandinavian Gymnasium, a teacher of Ukrainian language and literature, participated in the All-Ukrainian scientific and practical conference "Ukrainian language and speech in the context of modern day" organized by the Department of Education of the City Council of Cherkassy and Cherkassy Taras Shevchenko specialized school #28.

Informative vacation

During a two-week vacation our students not only repeated the course materials and did their homework but also visited various museums and theaters, traveled around Ukraine and Poland.

Presentation of the "We and Power" project

On October the 13th the Assembly Hall of Scandinavian Gymnasium hosted the conference in the framework of the new "We and Power" project designed for the 9-11-graders. The events aimed at creating students’ political culture, active social position and sense of responsibility not only for their own fate but for the fate of Ukraine took place during the conference.

New Opportunities

On October the 7th a meeting of students studying Swedish and Norwegian with representatives of Ukrainian-Norwegian companies Runway and Norwegian Airlines took place.

Aid to the Army

In September the whole school community of Scandinavian Gymnasium took an active part in helping our soldiers in ATO.

Happy Teacher's Day!

In early October all educational establishments of Ukraine celebrate the professional holiday of the teachers – the Teacher’s Day.  The students of Scandinavian Gymnasium prepared a concert and devoted their songs, dances, acrobatic etudes to their teachers.

News from the "Shogun" Club

The "Shogun" Club began the competitive season with the "Nikolayev Open" International Tournament held on September the 21st in Nikolayev.

400 athletes from all over Ukraine and a team from Georgia took part in the event.

Congratulations to the winners!

Scandinavian Gymnasium is proud of its talented students - winners of contests and competitions of various kinds. This summer several students have received outstanding victories in extracurricular life.

Day of Knowledge

On the first of September a ceremonial line-up took place at Scandinavian Gymnasium devoted to the Day of Knowledge, Wisdom, Cognition, and Growth!  The beginning of this school year is covered with the spirit of unity, lighted up by the colors of our native land, cloudless sky and golden grain fields. Today to our large school family came not only 210 first-formers but also 60 children – migrants from Donbas and the Crimea who we are going to share the warmth of our hearts with and who we will help to feel the sincerity of our souls.
